How To Make Plaster For Ceilings & Walls

Home Renovation In Selangor_Plaster Ceiling

First thing you need to do is gather all of your tools and ingredients needed for making ceiling plaster. You will need to be sure to have adequate protection, such as gloves, and a mask. Than make sure you have:

10 pound bag of powdered gypsum
1 teaspoon powdered alum
1-pound container powdered wall sizing
Protective mask
Appropriate Eye protection
Rubber gloves
Wooden spoon or paint stick
Metal wash tub for mixing
Bakery bags
Packing tape
Non stick cooking spray

Be sure you are wearing your protective gear before you begin working with the powder ingredients. Mix all ingredients together in a bucket or tub. Using a paint stick or piece of wood, start to stir and be sure to stir thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are mixed well.

Fill bakers' bags with approximately 2 pounds plaster mix. Begin to roll the bag up and seal unused materials. Store in a dry, and overly cool place- most importantly keep it out of reach of small children. By mixing one bag at a time- with the instructed amount of water, to make a thick, creamy and easily mounded slurry you will not waste any excess. Use less water to make wall plaster and slightly more water for plaster casts.

Again, it is very important that you are using your eye, and skin protective gear, whether with wet or powder substances in this given case. Now you need to make a plaster case. In order to do that, take amount of clay in your hands, the size you are needing. Roll flat, but make sure the clay is at least 3/4 the thickness of the object you wish to cast. Spray with cooking spray. Press and mash clay into the area with pressure, and leave sit.

Be sure to keep your work area clean of dirt and debris as you don't want things falling or floating into your wet plaster mixture. This could contaminate your entire mixture resulting in you having to start from scratch.

If and when you come to the conclusion that this process is too much, consider pressed tin ceiling tiles. They are much easier to install or to have someone else install and they offer many more benefits than that of ceiling or wall plaster.
